Guild Wars Update
0A little over a year and a half ago, I set myself a challenge. That challenge was to make my way through all of the primary campaigns of Guild Wars before Guild Wars 2 came to market.
Last night, around 10:00, I achieved that goal. I have one character that has made it through the 3 primary campaigns (Prophecies, Nightfall and Factions) and the single expansion pack (Eye of the North).
(No, it didn’t take me a 19 months of constant playing to achieve this. In fact, a lot of that time I was off playing Modern Warfare 2 with my clan. There really is only about 3-4 months of pure Guild Wars time – several hours at a sitting – to get this accomplished.)
So I’m done, right?
Far from it. I still have the War in Kryta and Winds of Change to complete – these are more like add-ons than campaigns, but they are still tough. Not to mention there are a ton of things that I need to make/acquire/achieve for my Hall of Monuments.
To that end, I’ve started working on my Oppressor Weapon set, and trying to max out some titles. I’m can do some of these by simply farming things – I’m going to start farming Vaettirs for my Norn title and I competed in my first Jade Quarry match last night for my Kurzick title.
I still have three heroes that I’ve not unlocked. I need to figure out how to do that.
Yes, there is a lot left for me to do. Oh, and now I have to add “Wait for Guild Wars 2″ to the very top of the list…sheesh, it never ends.
Guild Wars – EPIC FAIL
0Last Saturday I tried to run a dungeon called “Dredging the Depths” in Guild Wars Eye of the North. The key word was TRY. I started running the dungeon too late, my eyes were on fire, my elbow and back were killing me, and I had to walk uphill in the snow barefoot to the computer – BOTH WAYS!
At any rate, I ended up getting to the last boss and getting so frustrated that I simply quit.
I recorded the whole run thinking I would make a YouTube video showing my UBER SKILZ. Yeah right. So instead of showing me PWNING the dungeon, I ended up making a video of my epic fail. Well, actually three videos. Here they are, have a good laugh on me:
And finally my redemption – killing the last boss the next day:
Guild Wars: Prophecies
0Over the weekend, with the help of a guildie or two, I managed to make it to the very last mission in Prophecies. Which means more than likely tonight I will have beaten one of the the main campaigns of Guild Wars.
“Beaten” in this case means: made it through all of the missions. There is still a TON of things left for me to do. I still have two other campaigns to get through and the Eye of the North expansion. I still have elite skills to gather (skill cap’ing), elite armor and weapons to obtain (farming) and titles to earn (I’m a little less than 4% away from earning my first mapping title).
The problem now is, after tonight which do I focus on? Can I combine any of these?
All I know right now is: I have a helpful guild, a wiki to refer to and the desire for fame and glory! BWWWHHHAAAAAA HAAAAAA HAAAAA!
Back Playing Guild Wars
0Guild Wars…I bought the game several years ago and I recieved a pack with all the other campaigns and the expansion for my birthday last year or year before that. Until just recently, I’ve basically goofed around in post-searing Ascalon and then gotten bored with it. But since I’ve become bored with Halo: Reach, I decided to pick it back up. And now I’ve made level 20 with my first character, I’ve made into the jungle missions and I’m actually enjoying it.
Here a video of a few battles from a couple of night ago:
I hope so…
0So Guild Wars 2 is proporting to have a new way to play MMOs. According to this video, they are going to eliminate the “grind”. I really hope so, because that more than anything else drove me away from the MMO I played.
Watch this and then play the game when it it comes out…then you decide if they succeeded.
