Modern Warfare 2 – A Rant
0I’m not usually one to blame my losses or inability to score big in a video game on cheating, but last night I was witness to an incredible amount things that just weren’t right.
As I’ve posted earlier, my clan just started playing Modern Warfare 2 again. Since that has happened, I have had some of the most enjoyable multi-player matches since I first went online with Halo 3. All of the matches had been smooth, no evidence of lag, no evidence of modded game-play, no complaints from my other clan members about people that couldn’t be killed. Just game after game of straight up competitive play – which just happened to lead to us getting 4 nukes in two weeks.
But last night, in every game (and I do mean EVERY game), there were issues. Mostly dealing with lag – where an enemy would appear to be in in one place and then a split second later be in quite another. But there were several games where I was the victim of outright cheating.
As a case in point, in one game I was standing behind a block wall – my head and chest were exposed. An enemy saw me – and I saw him. I fell to the ground – completely covered by the wall - the enemy shot through wall at me with an UMP (a light automatic weapon – in the same class as an Uzi) and I died.
There were many instances where a grenade was thrown completly across the map and landed at people’s feet. I can understand a random grenade doing that once, but MANY times in the course of SEVERAL matches? I don’t think so. There was a guy running using nothing but an RPG – which has two rounds in it. I know he killed every member of my clan with 5 different shots within the span of about 45 seconds. There was this one person that survived 4 separate shots from a shotgun and walked away from knife attacks – that’s just not possible. There was an instance of a single person recieving two care packages at the same time. The list goes on and on and this is just one evening’s matches.
Because of this and the fact that I got WAY too angry over it. I think I’m going to be setting the MW2 disc aside for a while – maybe forever. I can have more fun playing Zombie matches and MMOs. I don’t need that kind of stress and aggrevation from a game.

Another Tactical Nuke for Team XRAY
1Last night I felt good enough to play some with my buddies on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. I’m glad I did because my nephew Joe, a.k.a. XRAY6198, got his second tactical nuke in one of the games that we played.
It’s kind of funny. Sometime last week (maybe even last weekend) we put Call of Duty: Black Ops aside and started playing MW2 again. The very first night, two of our group came within one kill of a nuke. And not in one match – but in several. In all actuality, everyone of us have had great matches since our return – including me. I’ve finished more matches with a positive kill to death ratio and with double-digit kills since our return than I’ve had in ANY other game that I’ve played.
At any rate, I’m glad that Joe got his nuke. I’m hoping that very soon Kevin and Dean will get theirs. I know they can taste it and I know they want it – especially Dean (his next will be his 10th).
As you know, I’ve been recording videos of our game play for a long time. It’s kind of sad that I can’t show you the real player’s performances, but I can show you the match. My performance in this video isn’t much – I’ve always been the “protector” type player and not the Leroy Jankins uber player, and this video shows that. The other team decided to try and snipe about 90% of this match and I think I ended up with only 1 kill and 1 assist, but Idid my job and allowed Joe to get his nuke. So all is well. Here’s the video – enjoy the music and the nuke – GRATS to Joe!
