According to this post, before the end of the year Activision will be begin charging for people to play Call of Duty online.

This will probably stop me from buying any further Call of Duty games and probably stop me from buying any Activision branded/distributed games as well.

Why?  Simple:  I’m ALREADY paying to play the game online.  Not only have I paid $60 to aquire the game in the first place.  I’m also paying $50 a year to play them on XBOX Live.  I’m not going to pay an additional fee to Activision just for the priviledge to play their games on XBOX Live.  No, sorry I won’t do that.  Games are too expensive as it is.  (This is why I don’t play World of Warcraft and do play Guild Wars.)

And, oh by they way, with all the cheating and manipulation that’s been going on – that Activision seems to be ignoring, I’ll simply skip the process altogether.  I’ll not buy any games that you distribute if you implement this process.  I’ll simply find another outlet for my gaming needs.  There are plently of free to play MMORPGs that I can get into.

Thanks, but no thanks Activision!
