Guild Wars Update

Guild Wars Factions

A little over a year and a half ago, I set myself a challenge.  That challenge was to make my way through all of the primary campaigns of Guild Wars before Guild Wars 2 came to market.

Last night, around 10:00, I achieved that goal.  I have one character that has made it through the 3 primary campaigns (Prophecies, Nightfall and Factions) and the single expansion pack (Eye of the North).

(No, it didn’t take me a 19 months of constant playing to achieve this.  In fact, a lot of that time I was off playing Modern Warfare 2 with my clan.  There really is only about 3-4 months of pure Guild Wars time – several hours at a sitting – to get this accomplished.)

So I’m done, right?

Far from it.  I still have the War in Kryta and Winds of Change to complete – these are more like add-ons than campaigns, but they are still tough.  Not to mention there are a ton of things that I need to make/acquire/achieve for my Hall of Monuments.

To that end, I’ve started working on my Oppressor Weapon set, and trying to max out some titles.  I’m can do some of these by simply farming things – I’m going to start farming Vaettirs for my Norn title and I competed in my first Jade Quarry match last night for my Kurzick title.

I still have three heroes that I’ve not unlocked.  I need to figure out how to do that.

Yes, there is a lot left for me to do.  Oh, and now I have to add “Wait for Guild Wars 2″ to the very top of the list…sheesh, it never ends.

Gears of War

Gears of War

I beat Gears of War 1 last Saturday and part of Sunday.  I just finished Gears of War 2 in one day.

For those of you who say that Gears 1 is better than 2, I say BULL!  I enjoyed Gears 2 WAY better than 1.  It’s nice to know that games with epic and fun storylines still exist.  Here’s hoping that Gears 3 follows in the same vein.

Modern Warfare 2 – A Rant

0

I’m not usually one to blame my losses or inability to score big in a video game on cheating, but last night I was witness to an incredible amount things that just weren’t right.

As I’ve posted earlier, my clan just started playing Modern Warfare 2 again.  Since that has happened, I have had some of the most enjoyable multi-player matches since I first went online with Halo 3.  All of the matches had been smooth, no evidence of lag, no evidence of modded game-play, no complaints from my other clan members about people that couldn’t be killed.  Just game after game of straight up competitive play – which just happened to lead to us getting 4 nukes in two weeks.

But last night, in every game (and I do mean EVERY game), there were issues.  Mostly dealing with lag – where an enemy would appear to be in in one place and then a split second later be in quite another.  But there were several games where I was the victim of outright cheating.

As a case in point, in one game I was standing behind a block wall – my head and chest were exposed.  An enemy saw me – and I saw him.  I fell to the ground – completely covered by the wall - the enemy shot through wall at me with an UMP (a light automatic weapon – in the same class as an Uzi) and I died.

There were many instances where a grenade was thrown completly across the map and landed at people’s feet.  I can understand a random grenade doing that once, but MANY times in the course of SEVERAL matches?  I don’t think so.  There was a guy running using nothing but an RPG – which has two rounds in it.  I know he killed every member of my clan with 5 different shots within the span of about 45 seconds.  There was this one person that survived 4 separate shots from a shotgun and walked away from knife attacks – that’s just not possible.  There was an instance of a single person recieving two care packages at the same time.  The list goes on and on and this is just one evening’s matches.

Because of this and the fact that I got WAY too angry over it.  I think I’m going to be setting the MW2 disc aside for a while – maybe forever.  I can have more fun playing Zombie matches and MMOs.  I don’t need that kind of stress and aggrevation from a game.

Yet another Tactical Nuke for Team Xray

0

Last night in our next to last game, KillerK Rod got his 7th Tactical Nuke.  I’m telling you, things are SOOOO much better since Black Ops came out that it’s not even funny.

Here’s the vid. It’s a full game and I basically sat and picked up scraps, so it’s not much, but it does show that Team Xray earns it’s nukes.

Modern Warfare 2 – Follow Up

When looking over the videos from last night I found out that I finished both positive and with double-digit kills in 4 of the 9 matches.  I’ll try to compile another montage in the next day or two showing some action from these games.
